I have a figure drawing portfolio due in class today, so here’s a screenshot of my spreads! Yeah. :D
Edit: This is me being dumb and uploading the same image twice.
Hello, and welcome to my annual obligatory post about why I haven’t been updating this blog! Easiest reason: school. Lots and lots of school. Especially now that I’ve been commuting back and forth everyday.
So have some figure drawing stuff! I’ve been trying to go to sessions every week, twice a week. So hopefully, I’ll see some improvement eventually. :)
These were kind of fun to do, except I did them right after each other so I’m really tired now. ;A; I ended up really liking the second one; I’m quite fond of the way I drew her face and hair. :)
I’m considering opening commissions in this style; full body figures, with slight color wash. But we’ll see if I’m up to it after I go on vacation (side note: I’m leaving for Canada in a couple days, so I’ll be back in about a week afterwards! :D). Also, gotta consider if anyone would actually be INTERESTED in commissioning me, in the first place, for USD. xD
Uhh, I don’t remember what else I was going to say about this… So… Bye! ono/
Just a small doodle to practice faces w/o reference. Took maybe an hour, more or less. I’d like to make a habit of these; anyone who’s followed me for a while may see a habit of my use of traditional mediums. Digital just downright scares me sometimes. So I’d like to try doing a couple 1-2 hour practice sessions a day just to practice some things i’d like to work on: figures, faces (especially frontals), painting, color/values, etc.
Sorry about not updating that much since school ended. Been on a bit of a creative rut; haven’t been able to work on much other than stickers. (update soon on stickers, anyway)
But here, have some environment studies. For those first two, I drew in Starbucks, each taking about two hours each. I basically started at one end of my page and worked across it, little by little, regardless of whether someone in my environment moved or left. That being said, all those people there were not there at the same time. On the left side of the last spread was this dude sitting in front of me at the library, and the right are just hands. Overlapping hands. onob
I need to go out a draw more. :I
Oh, I also went figure drawing, but I’m too lazy to take those out to take pictures of them.
Some drawings from a figure drawing session from earlier tonight.
I didn’t like most of my 1 or 2 minute gestures; we learned this new way of gesturing in class and I’m still getting the hang of it. x____x So here are some pictures of the drawings that turned out better. Greens are 5 minutes, reds are 10, and the blue is a 20. And of course, the last one, my favorite, is a 2 minute. xD
Edit: This took forever to upload since I’m on dorm internet. x___x
She Encaged Them
I kind of liked this better back when it was a sketch; oh well, I’m satisfied with it for now. I’m free to take suggestions to improve this, so feel free to reply to this post with anything. :0
On an unrelated note, I wish school started already. The semester doesn’t start until the 25th and I’m bored out of my mind at home. </3
Ball point pen and Photoshop
I decided to start a new sketchbook over Winter Break to practice working from life and composition, since it’s going to be a big part of getting into the A/I program at school. To make it more fun, I’m making Ashley and Hogan do this with me too with their own sketchbooks! Of course, there’s a catch: with any page in the sketchbook that seems to have been made up and not from life, they owe the other two a quarter each.
Here’s my first page. I like birds. I like doing studies. BAM! Bird studies.
